Save a moment or two to read and savor “a short story about recession, attraction, and data visualization” called “Mr. Penumbra’s Twenty-Four-Hour Book Store”. I chuckled at this line among others:

My cousin just moved to Florida because they’re closing the state of Michigan!

And, seriously, if you do, don’t miss the followup “Rethinking the Box: Application and Practice” – which includes this nod for us Portlanders:

    Yeah, I think Waxy is one of the better blogs too – not so much introspection or pretty pictures but consistently interesting links. I’ve only been following that one regularly since 2008 but Waxy’s been around for awhile…
