The Universal Vocabulary of Light and Dark

Qiang Li’s Photo Critique is a venerable site (in web terms, anyway; established in 2000, it substantially antedates Flickr) that showcases a world-wide gathering of gifted amateur and professional photographers. Their quality varies, to be sure, but none of them I’ve seen are bad.

Two I like in particular are:
* Christopher Azzopardi‘s masterful use of chiaroscuro, and
* Huib Limberg‘s clean, sharp lines (especially in black-and-white)

But there are hundreds of other artists posting daily and commenting on each others’ work. You could learn a lot just watching…
