Ludic Interlude (I)

March 18, 2011

Kottke passes along a fun, if limited, Hangman-like quiz on famous objects from the movies. The silhouettes are usually easy to identify, although not always to associate with the right film.

I got a decent but not fantastic 85 out of some 122 (at the time—I think the total number may change as they add new images), but even that was due more, I suspect, to my facility with words than with images. A second try netted me 93 out of 122 (yeah, sure, why not? They even let you take the SAT multiple times these days). A real movie buff would do better, though.

(Hint: A three-letter word is almost always “The”.)

I love this. Amazing how one 2-D shape can unlock a whole cerebral file folder of detail and impression and emotional response. Pretty dern cool!
