Indivisible

July 4, 2014

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

That’s how Edward Bellamy’s original version appeared, in 1892.

One nation, indivisible. That’s how it should be today, revisionists be damned.

I love my country. It belongs to us, not to any particular god. And it’s our responsibility to make it so, and to make it better.

America isn’t perfect. It never was. But my country (right or wrong) can always be better.
